Role of poverty

In India, everyone is greedy, even the police officers who are supposed to be our superheroes, but without bribing them, we can’t make them do anything. If a child of a wealthy family goes missing, the police will do anything in their power to reunite that kid with their family. They will go to extreme heights to find them. On the other hand, if a child of a poor family goes missing, the police will not even do the bare minimum since the child’s family doesn’t have money to pay them. It might sound like it’s not true, but it 100% is. This is what happens in India; the correlation between missing children and the status quo exists. Where will the underprivileged parents go if the police officers are not helpful? How are they supposed to bring their child back? Are only the children of wealthy people actual human beings? Why do the media and the police focus on them heavily?

Police are supposed to help people without expecting anything in return, but in India, they accept bribes and will not do anything without them; this is why so many children remain missing to this day. It feels like the policemen don’t even have feelings at all; how can they be so cruel and useless? You might say that good police officers exist; yes, that’s true, but money corrupts them, too.

The next steps

Let’s raise awareness as much as possible and represent the underrepresented. We as a society have failed, It’s time to do better. Are we only going to do something when we face the same situation? Is only reading about these things not enough to make changes? You can still raise awareness about this topic even if you’re not a parent yet; you’re still a human being with emotions. Try to imagine yourself in that situation; how scary it is for the missing child to be separated from their parents. Just like how they find the children of wealthy people, make them find the children of poor people, too. It shouldn’t matter whether you’re rich or poor; we all have the same human rights.  It’s not too late to help bring the children back, all we need to do is care.
